Situated within walking distance of the bustling market town of Ulverston, and approached by a beautiful tree-lined drive, Stone Cross Mansion is a Grade II listed building built in limestone to a Gothic/Scottish Baronial style as the family home of local mining businessman Myles Kennedy and his wife Margaret Rowley.
Dating back to 1874, the property stayed within the same Kennedy family until 1943 when it was requisitioned by the military, and in 1946 was sold to Lancashire County Council, who until the 1980s used the mansion as a boarding school. More recently it was occupied by a local company until 2001. Since then it has been left just waiting for somebody to give it a full refurbishment and bring it into the modern world.
We're proud to have brought the mansion back to its former glory with this sympathetic renovation, creating nineteen apartments in total, overlooking beautiful gardens and tree-lined scenery, with some apartments having breath-taking panoramic views over Morecambe Bay and the town's most loved landmark; Sir John Barrow Monument on the top of Hoad Hill.
The nineteen apartments are designed over three floors, with a lift serving the first and second floor apartments. The original grand, central staircase has been lovingly recreated to reinstate this magnificent centre piece to the imposing hallway.

The historic market town of Ulverston, 8 miles north east of Barrow-in-Furness, is a fantastic place to call home. Leave the M6 at junction 36 and continue onto the A590 to Ulverston. Once you arrive at Ulverston, continue through the town and turn right onto Daltongate. The development is located on the left.
The town's most visible landmark is Hoad Monument, on Hoad Hill. It is a
copy of the Eddystone Lighthouse and boasts breath-taking views out to
Morecambe Bay and parts of the Lake District. Ulverston is also home to
Coronation Hall - an impressive 636 seat theatre providing fantastic
entertainment and events, including music, opera, theatre productions
and even coffee mornings. It also houses the Tourist Information Centre.
Ulverston Victoria High School (UVHS) is the town's secondary school with approximately 1,200 pupils and a sixth form college. There are also three infant schools and two junior schools in the town.
Ulverston railway station is located on the Furness Line from Barrow-in-Furness to Lancaster, ultimately leading on to Manchester Airport. The railway station is a short walk from the town centre. Ulverston is also served by several bus services.
For travel further afield, Manchester Airport can be reached in under 2 hours by car.
