Directions

From the M6 North, exit at Junction 27 and take the A5209 towards Parbold/Standish/Chorley. Take the third exit on the motorway on to Crow Orchard Road, turn left on to Shevington Lane, Left on to School Lane, Right on to High Street and left on to Market Street. Follow this road on to Rectory Lane.

Shopping

Locally there are general convenience stores, post office, and take-aways. Towards Wigan Town Centre you will find Robin Park retail park with a number of large retailers such as Next and Argos. The town centre itself has The Grand Arcade, a modern shopping mall, along with more traditional shops at The Galleries.

Leisure

Keen golfers among you will be relieved to know that the old golf course on which The Links is built has been superseded by further excellent golfing facilities close by. Wigan Golf Club is a delightful, yet challenging, 18-hole parkland course only 1.7 miles away, and Gathurst Golf Club, which boasts panoramic views at almost every hole, is just 3.4 miles.

For sports fans, the DW stadium is home to the Wigan Warriors RLFC and Wigan Athletic FC, the FA cup winners in 2013. Furthermore; Wigan town centre is home to a recently built Olympic-size swimming baths with gym facilities.

Other places of interest include Three Sisters with its racing track, offering a tranquil setting for walks, canoeing and course fishing. Only a short drive away is a cinema and bowling.

Education

Within close proximity of the development there are a number of primary and secondary schools. There is also a range of day nurseries close by. Wigan also has several sixth forms and colleges, most notably Winstanley college which was named the 'Sunday Times Sixth Form of the Year' in 2012.

Transport

There are two train stations in Wigan town centre, making travel to Manchester, Liverpool and London very accessible. Buses run regularly from the main road into the town centre. And with the M6 only a few minutes' drive away, the development is ideally situated for commuters.

Health

Wigan & Leigh Infirmary is only a few minutes' drive from the development. There are also various pharmacies, dental practices and medical centres within a short distance from the site.
