The Links Location Information

You'll be well connected

There are two train stations in Wigan town centre, making travel to Manchester, Liverpool and London very accessible. Buses run regularly from the main road into the town centre. And with the M6 only a few minute’s drive away, the development is ideally situated for commuters.

For travel further afield, Liverpool John Lennon Airport (33.3 miles) and Manchester Airport (28.7 miles) are both reachable by car within the hour.

Lots to do outdoors

A short drive away, Mesnes Park in Wigan is described as “A jewel nestled on the edge of Wigan town centre.” A great family day out, it’s also home to Ernest Gillick’s statue of Sir Francis Powell, it’s said that rubbing the foot of this statue will bring you good luck… Another local day out can be enjoyed at Haigh Hall Country Park; spanning hundreds of acres and including shops and cafeteria, it’s a fabulous place to while away some restful hours with family and friends.

An area rich in history

The area is also rich in history with the town of Wigan and its pier made famous by the author George Orwell who compiled his investigation on working class life for his book, The Road to Wigan Pier. More recently, The Heritage Lottery Fund helped rescue and restore the Trencherfield Mill Steam Engine, which is more that 100 years old and powered the cotton spinning mill, which is located on the Leeds and Liverpool canal.
