Lots to do in the local area
York and the surrounding villages provide plenty of dining and leisure opportunities, plus retail parks are home to a host of restaurants and entertainment activities such as gymnasiums, bowling and cinemas. Easy access to York city centre means all sorts of entertainment options are close to hand including theatre, opera, museums, live music and much more.
There’s a good selection of shops within York and the major shopping centre within the city centre. To the South is McArthurGlen Designer Shopping Outlet boasting over 120 stores. There are a selection of schools in the area, for older students, there’s a Mathematics and Computing College and James College plus the University of York to the South East.
Transport
There are easy links by road to York city centre (A19), Leeds, Harrogate and coastal areas via the A64 and A1M. The numerous bus routes around York. The nearest train station is in York city centre - providing access to the north and south. On the East Coast Mainline, York station gives direct access to London within two hours 20 minutes. There is also a direct route to Manchester via the TransPennine Express, with the journey taking one hour 20 minutes.
For travel further afield, Manchester Airport and Leeds Bradford Airport are the closest to the city. There is a direct train from York to Manchester Airport.
