The M1 passes the town to the west and the M62 to the north, giving you two excellent routes for travel throughout Yorkshire. The focal point for the city is its cathedral with the tallest spire in Yorkshire – that’s a great landmark to have on the horizon. The impressive Yorkshire Sculpture Park is just a short drive from Windsor Park. Set in 500 acres of parkland at the 18th-century Bretton Hall estate, this sculpture park is the largest of its kind in Europe and features work by Wakefield's great sculptors, Henry Moore and Barbara Hepworth and also displays other indoor and open-air exhibitions.
Other great days out around the town include Hemsworth Water Park & Playworld, Diggerland and The National Coal Mining Museum. For the keen golfers amongst you will be pleased to know that Normanton Golf Club and Low Laithes Golf Course are not too far away.
Wakefield gives you easy access to the open spaces and landscape of the Yorkshire countryside. You can enjoy the great outdoors at the local country parks and wildlife areas such as The National Trust's Nostell Priory, RSPB Fairburn Ings, and - just a few miles from Windsor Park - Newmillerdam Country Park.
There are convenience stores close to the development for your day-to-day needs, and most of the major supermarkets are represented in and around the city centre.

For older pupils, Wakefield City Academy is a short distance away and was recently rated 'outstanding'. Wakefield College provides sixth form studies as well as a wide range of further education for adults, while Queen Elizabeth Grammar School for Boys and Wakefield Girls High School are the independent schools.
Just 10 miles south east of Leeds, Wakefield has excellent transport links with good access to the M1 and M62 motorways. Wakefield's trains and bus station are within walking distance from Windsor Park – ideal for commuters and explorers alike. For travel further afield Leeds Bradford Airport has a wide range of national and international destinations.
