Local author opens new chapter for Ulverston

A local author has helped to launch a new chapter for Ulverston, at the unveiling of the ‘Kennedy’ show home at Stone Cross Mansions.

Stuart Allison, who has written a book – The Kennedys of Stone Cross Mansion - about the grand house’s previous occupants helped to cut the ribbon at the newly-built five bedroom house in the Stone Cross grounds.

He was joined by local historian Robert Wheatley BEM, who has pledged to deliver talks about the Kennedy family for interested local residents and prospective purchasers at the site.

Diane Finch, sales and marketing director for developer Charles Church Lancashire, said: “Stone Cross Mansion is such an important local landmark and we are absolutely thrilled to be bringing the house and its grounds back to life. We can’t wait to welcome new families into this purpose-built country estate.”

“We were honoured that Mr Allison and Mr Wheatley were able to join us to open a new chapter for the market town with the launch of the show home, named after the family who famously lived here before.”

“Mr Allison has also very generously provided a copy of his book about the Kennedy family for every new home on the development, helping to share the magic and history of this lovely location.”

The Stonecross Mansion development includes 45 four and five bedroom executive homes priced from £314,995 as well as 19 two and three bedroom apartments and one gatehouse in the renovated mansion block which will be named Kennedy Place and released for sale later in the year.

The magnificent Kennedy show home offers a spacious triple-aspect living room, kitchen/family room and separate kitchen. There is an en suite to the master bedroom and the property includes a double garage.

The marketing suite and show home are open Thursday to Monday from 11am to 6pm.

House hunters at Stone Cross Mansions may be eligible to access the Government’s Help to Buy scheme, which requires just a five per cent deposit. Those with an existing property to sell can also ask about the Charles Church Home Change and Part Exchange assistance packages.
