Set between Cardiff and Swansea, and close to the beautiful South Wales coastline, the town of Bridgend has so much to appeal to new home buyers. From the many shops and amenities available, to the wide range of outdoor pursuits and nearby places of interests, this is a great place to call home. The town, which was developed at a ford on the River Ogmore, was for centuries an important agricultural and market town, thanks to the convenient transport links by road and by water. Today several examples of historical architecture remain, including the Old Bridge which was constructed in 1425.

Great shops and amenities

Bridgend has a market town atmosphere, and the main pedestrianised shopping area offers a wide selection of shops and essential services. There's also a good choice of supermarkets nearby, including Tesco, Asda and Sainsbury. For a wider choice, the McArthur Glen Designer Outlet is just an eight-minute drive from the centre of Bridgend. There you’ll find a range of brands including Calvin Klein, Ted Baker and M&S, along with a Sainsbury’s and several food outlets.

Explore the area

There’s no shortage of things to do in this part of Wales, especially for lovers of the outdoors. Head a few miles to the coast for a selection of beautiful beaches including Rest Bay and Newton Beach at Porthcawl, and Ogmore by Sea Beach. Golf enthusiasts will be delighted with the fantastic courses nearby, including the 18-hole Royal Porthcawl Golf Course overlooking the coast. Closer to home there are regular events and festivals in Bridgend, or, if you feel up for a challenge, you could travel approximately 35 miles to the stunning Brecon Beacons National Park.

Education for all

There’s a good range of schools to choose from in and around Bridgend, from infant schools through to comprehensives and a college, including a mix of Welsh-Medium and Church Schools.

Great commuter links

Bridgend is located just off the M4, the main link all the way from London to Swansea, via the Severn Bridge. This means that both Cardiff and Swansea can be reached in about 40 minutes by car – ideal for getting to work. There are two train stations in the town, one in the town centre and one in the northern outskirts. From here you can catch a speedy link to Cardiff, Swansea, and even directly to London. For travel further afield, Cardiff Airport is just 15 miles away.
