Littlehampton is a wonderful town on the West Sussex coast, halfway between Brighton and Chichester, looking out across the English Channel. A new home here has a ready-made work life balance on the doorstep. The sailing boats in the harbour and the gorgeous beaches create a truly family-friendly atmosphere, and the main east west route across southern England connects you with the working life of Portsmouth, Brighton, and Eastbourne.
The A27 is the key route across the county, connecting you with Portsmouth to the west and with Brighton and Eastbourne to the east. Portsmouth is where you’d pick up the M3, which then links to the A3 on its way to Surrey and the M25. There are excellent train services from Littlehampton Station, connecting you with Portsmouth & Southsea, Bognor Regis, Worthing & Hove, and London Victoria. It takes just under 2 hours to reach London, via Brighton, so it’s a manageable commute if you need to spend some working time in the City. There are regional airports at Portsmouth, Southampton, and Bournemouth, but for the main international destinations, London Gatwick is only 40 miles away, taking about an hour and a quarter by car. There’s a direct train from Littlehampton, taking just about the same time.
Littlehampton is one of the largest towns along the coast, as it includes Wick, Lyminster, and Rustington. It’s therefore got plenty of retail and leisure facilities, business parks, and its schools cover these catchment areas. There are five primary schools to choose from, and the town’s secondary school and sixth form is The Littlehampton Academy. Littlehampton’s shops spread from the town centre to the seafront, all within easy walking distance. There are plenty of cafés and restaurants there and along the riverside. For supermarkets you’ve got ALDI, a Tesco Superstore, Sainsbury’s, and Lidl. For sport and leisure, Littlehampton Wave, right on the seafront has something for all the family.
Too much to do
That’s not a complaint. This is an area with so much to see, to visit and to enjoy. Living here might feel a little bit like being on holiday. For sailing and watching the world go by you’ve got Chichester, for ancient history you’ve got Arundel and its castle, for traditional you’ve got Bognor Regis and Worthing, and for city meets sea you’ve got the bright lights of Brighton - all within easy reach. The River Arun and Littlehampton port provide a ready-made leisure facility for sailors and water-lovers, and just watching all the activity is a pastime in its own right!
