Get out into nature

Despite Middlesbrough’s industrial heritage, there’s a plethora of nature reserves and beautiful green spaces in the surrounding area. Take a walk up Roseberry Topping, a popular hill with stunning view of the surroundings, 10 miles from Middlesbrough. Or, just over 6 miles from the town centre, there’s RSPB Saltholme, a family-friendly wetlands perfect for days out spotting wildlife. Other local green spaces include Newham Grange Farm which is sure to be a hit with kids, and scenic Stewart Park where you’ll find a lake, play area, pets corner, deer, llamas and highland cattle.

Excellent transport links

Middlesbrough boasts excellent transport links nationwide. A range of options are available including trains, buses and impressive links to the road network, meaning that you are very well-connected when it comes to travelling to, from and around the town.

Middlesbrough railway station enjoys a mainline position, linking the town to the countrywide network, with direct services to key locations such as Leeds, Manchester, Liverpool and York. Buses are a popular choice for travel in Middlesbrough, with a range of short and long-distance bus services operating from Middlesbrough bus station. And for road travel you’ll be extremely well connected thanks to a number of trunk roads serving the town including the A19, A66, A171, A172 and A174, giving easy connections to Darlington, Hartlepool, Durham, Stockton-on-Tees, Newcastle and beyond.

For travel further afield, the nearest airport is Teesside International Airport, just 12 miles from the centre of town.
