Morley is a large town, shoulder to shoulder with Leeds, Yorkshire’s largest city, just 5 miles away, yet with its own identity and atmosphere. The pedestrianised high street, the traditional indoor market, and the Morley Arts Festival, all bring character and culture to the town, and it’s very popular with young families and professionals who have their sights set on the employment and leisure opportunities in Leeds but who want to live out of the city, with a bit more green space around them. With that in mind, Morley is an excellent location for your new home.

Transport networks

Morley is bypassed by the M62 and the M621 and those routes take the lion’s share of the traffic into Leeds to the north, and to Hull in the east and Greater Manchester to the west. The A6110 Dewsbury Road is the main A road linking the two motorways to the east of the town. There are good routes connecting with West Yorkshire’s main towns and industrial centres, Bradford, Halifax, Huddersfield, and Wakefield. Morley’s train station is on the Huddersfield Line, with Transpennine Express services into Leeds taking under 10 minutes, and into Manchester taking just over an hour and a half. From Morley to Leeds by bus takes about half an hour.  Leeds Bradford Airport is approximately 15 miles to the north, taking about 35 minutes to drive.

Living here

Between the local shops, the town market, the supermarkets, and shopping centres, you’ll find all you need close to hand, with city centre retail therapy within easy reach if you want to make a day out of it in Leeds. The huge purpose-built White Rose Shopping Centre is just off the Dewsbury Road. Morley Leisure Centre has got a 25-metre swimming pool as well as a 10-metre learner pool, along with gym and fitness facilities and Middleton Park is where you can go for green space, woodland walks, and time-out. There are several primary schools serving the town’s younger children, and the main secondary schools for the Morley catchment area are The Morley Academy, Bruntcliffe Academy and Woodkirk Academy.

Further afield

The advantage of this central location is that a day trip will get you into the Yorkshire Dales to the north or the Peak District to the south. Two national parks with Leeds in the middle, and a world away from city life for a change of scenery.
