Spetchley

This tiny hamlet just half a mile outside Worcester, and close to the M5, couldn’t be in more convenient setting for your new home. With Spetchley Park, a stately home with stunning gardens, on your doorstep, you’ll be in good company. Worcester has got plenty of history too, as well as all the amenities and facilities to make it a lovely city for today. Add the Malvern Hills to the southwest, and the Cotswolds to the southeast and you can enjoy the very best of city and country life here.

Living here

You’ll have all the shopping, entertainment, and leisure amenities of Worcester literally a stone’s throw away. It’s an historic city with lovely old buildings, creating an Old Quarter around the cathedral. Across the town you’ve got the choice of the Crowngate Shopping Centre, Cathedral Square, and the Hop Market Mall as well as the usual range of supermarkets.

Getting around

Spetchley is just to the east of the M5. It’s halfway between Junctions 6 and 7 which means that it’s protected from traffic joining the motorway. If you need to commute into Birmingham, the journey time is around 45 minutes by car. You could take the train from Worcester station, taking about an hour. The hamlet itself is on the A422 Worcester to Stratford-on-Avon road, while the A44 takes you down to Pershore and on to Evesham, both are lovely market towns.

Going to school

There are plenty of options in the western edges of Worcester, for example in Ronkswood, Whittington and in Lyppard Bourne. Nunnery Wood High School and the Worcester Sixth Form College are close by for secondary education.

Out and about

If you love the great outdoors, you’re in luck. The Malvern Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and the Cotswolds are so easy to reach. You don’t even have to go that far as Worcestershire’s countryside is gorgeous. If you want to stay even closer to home, you’ve got Spetchley Park and Gardens on your home territory. Worcester brings the countryside into the city, with country parks, nature reserves and the Chapter Meadows along the banks of the River Severn, opposite the cathedral. The Worcester & Birmingham Canal passes through the city with 58 locks and 5 tunnels along its 30-mile length. You can stroll along the towpath or take a boat trip to get the full experience.
