Wellingborough is an East Midlands town, 12 miles from Northampton. It’s a good size with plenty of amenities, but it’s also quite compact and so it’s easy to get out into the countryside making it a good choice for a new home. The River Nene flows to the south of the town and its chain of lakes have created a lovely natural landscape. Wellingborough is well-placed for easy access to some of the area’s larger towns, including Kettering, Peterborough, and Bedford, with direct A routes meaning that it’s a convenient base if you need to commute.
This is a lively town with plenty of green space for families to enjoy. Wellingborough’s town centre is home to most of the high street chains, and the Swansgate Shopping Centre adds to the choice for shopping. There are several out-of-town retail parks, including the Rushden Lakes Shopping Centre – a big venue with something for all the family. You’ve got all the main supermarkets, and the market town tradition carries on with a market three times a week in Whitehorse Yard.
East Midlands Railway operate services to and from Wellingborough station. There’s a direct train to London St Pancras taking just under an hour so the town is a popular base for commuters. Within 2 hours you’ve got the choice of London Stanstead, Luton, East Midlands, and Birmingham airports. The M1 is to the west of Northampton and the A1/A1(M) is to the east, running past Huntingdon.
