Amblehurst Green development is nestled on the northern reaches of the charming West Sussex village of Billingshurst.
Billingshurst is a thriving village located 8 miles to the west of Horsham, straddling the historic Roman road called Stane Street. The route of the Wey and Arun Canal runs close to the village, as do the rivers of Arun and Adur, enabling easy access to peaceful walks along picturesque towpaths and wildlife-filled meadows.
There’s a mixture of house styles to suit everyone’s needs whether they are looking for a fresh start or need more space for a growing family.
Surrounded by the South Downs National Park, Surrey Hills and High Weald Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty, you don’t have to stray far from Billingshurst to take in breathtaking views. The village itself is attractive, with a mix of historic buildings scattered amongst newer houses. The oldest parts of St Mary’s Church date from the 12th century and the old coaching inn retains much of its original charm.
Billingshurst has a good selection of independent shops including a Sainsbury’s Local and Tesco Express. There’s also a collection of restaurants and café’s in the village. Nearby, Horsham has Waitrose, Sainsbury’s and Tesco supermarkets and a newly-opened John Lewis Home store. Horsham also hosts weekly markets at Bishopric on Thursdays and Market Square and Carfax on Saturdays.
Families with children will be pleased to know the standard of local education is fantastic. The village has a secondary school and a sixth form college, known together as The Weald School, which is rated Ofsted ‘Outstanding’. There’s also a selection of Ofsted ‘Good’ primary schools in Billingshurst along with excellent nursery schools. The wider area of West Sussex also offers some of the finest public and independent schools in the UK.
The Weald School is also the location of the town’s leisure centre which boasts a swimming pool, well-equipped gym and a range of fitness classes. Jubilee Fields is also a popular place to keep fit with its football pitches, two cricket pitches and an exercise ‘trim trail’ path. For those who enjoy the more relaxing pastime of fishing, there’s also a well-stocked lake.
With its beautifully-designed modern homes, plentiful local amenities, well-respected schools, convenient transport links and stunning countryside close to hand, Amblehurst Green is a great place to call home.
