Travel and transport

The Edinburgh bypass play an important role in connecting the different parts of the city. It connects with the M8 and M9, which are key routes for commuters. Edinburgh Waverley train station has regular services to Glasgow, Dundee, Perth and further afield to Leeds, Manchester, and London Kings Cross. For travel by air, Edinburgh airport is just over 7 miles from the city centre, offering a wide range of national and international destinations.

Historic sites include Edinburgh Castle, Holyrood Palace, Arthur’s Seat, and the Royal Botanic Gardens. Cultural events include the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. Shopping in the city centre starts with Princes Street, and includes the Kinnaird Shopping Centre and the Cameron Toll Shopping Centre, both out from the city centre. The Pentland Hills Regional Park is a stunning landscape to the south of the city, and the famous Forth Bridge at Queensferry is the connection with Fife.
