New greenspace opens for dog walkers in Surrey

A new greenspace planted with native trees and shrubs has been opened by Thames Valley, creating new habitats for local wildlife and offering a space for dog walkers and nature enthusiasts to enjoy.

The Suitable Alternative Natural Greenspace (SANG) has been opened as part of the new Charles Church Crownfield Court community in Windlesham and reinforces our commitment to creating a positive, lasting community legacy.

The SANG plays an important role in protecting nearby natural habitats while offering an alternative space for recreation. As the area matures, it will evolve into a thriving natural asset, supporting local wildlife and improving wellbeing for visitors.

The opening coincided with the first occupations at the 116-home development, and the new residents joined the opening celebrations along with Cllr Pat Tedder, of Surrey Heath Borough Council, representatives from the Windlesham Society, Save Me Trust and the Windlesham Village Fete Committee.

As part of the celebration, Charles Church Thames Valley presented a £1,000 donation from its Community Champions Fund to the Windlesham Village Fete, helping to support their work in the village and further strengthen community ties.

Pat Lewis, Chair of the Village Fete, thanked Persimmon Homes for their support.
