Erskine is one of the most popular places to live if you are a seasoned Glasgow commuter. It’s great for families too as it’s well on the way to the Clyde Muirshiel Regional Park, Loch Lomond & The Trossachs National Park and the Queen Elizabeth Forest Park. With both city and countryside in its sights, the Firth of Clyde on the doorstep and the M8 and Glasgow Airport on hand to take you further afield, this is a great all-round location for a new home.

Commuting and communication network
Erskine has a direct line to central Glasgow, the M8. The average drive time is just under half an hour. Alternatively, you can catch a train from the town’s Bridgewater Shopping Centre, taking around 50 minutes, or the bus from Park Mains, Park Moor, taking just a few minutes more. You’re in a great position for getting to Glasgow Airport. It’s only 5 miles away, a short hop on the M8 by car or by bus. If you need to get to the north side of the Clyde, the A898 will take you across the river to Old Kilpatrick and from there the A82 will connect you with Dumbarton and Clydebank.
Shop local
Though you’ve got the fantastic shopping of Glasgow’s city centre, for day-to day necessities, Erskine will keep you well-stocked with the very useful Erskine Hardware shop. The Bridgewater Shopping Centre includes Morrisons and ALDI supermarkets amongst its line-up of retailers and small businesses. It’s also where the town’s leisure centre is.
Local schools
Erskine’s secondary school is Park Mains High School. It’s the largest school in Renfrewshire and one of the biggest in Scotland, with excellent facilities to match, including a sports complex. To start off your children’s school life, there are five primary schools to choose from.
Free time
You’ve got the perfect combination of city and countryside when deciding what to do and where to go. Glasgow is a great city of culture, art and history. It’s got the whole range when it comes to entertainment, shopping, eating out, nightlife and events, all in a buzzing city centre. For an escape to the country, you don’t have to go far. You can follow the A8 out of town, along the banks of the Firth of Clyde, around the Clyde Muirshiel Regional Park, to the beaches of Ayrshire or you can head north on the A82 to Loch Lomond and the stunning countryside of the highlands that overlook it.
