Ellesmere Port

Ellesmere Port is an important town on the southeastern edge of the Wirral Peninsula. It's long been a hard-working industrial and commercial port on the Mersey. It hasn't lost sight of a work-life balance though and local attractions include the National Waterways Museum, the Blue Planet Aquarium and Cheshire Oaks Designer Outlet. In a great location between Liverpool and Chester, there are plenty of opportunities for a change of scenery and excellent transport links for both work and pleasure.

Living in Ellesmere Port

Important connections

Ellesmere Port is on the M53 which heads up to the top of the Wirral Peninsula to link with Liverpool via the Birkenhead of Kingsway tunnels. To the south it joins the M56 which is a key motorway route between North Wales and the M6. The A41 between Birkenhead and Chester passes through the area too. For commuters, the town is on the Wirral Line of the Merseyrail Network with half-hourly services into the city. Stagecoach bus services complete an effective transport intrastructure.

Local amenities

A town of this size is sure to offer you plenty of options for shopping, schooling and entertainment. As well as the Cheshire Oaks outlet, there is a large shopping complex at The Coliseum - it includes the largest M & S outside Marble Arch. Whitby Park, Rivacre and Stanney Woods nature reserves ensure that families have some lovely green spaces close to home.

A bit further afield

You can choose from the historic city of Chester to the south, or the big-city lights of Liverpool to the north. The Wirral Peninsula has sometimes been overlooked as a lovely area of countryside and coast to explore, just a short distance away from the industrial heritage of the Mersey. Cheshire's countryside and North Wales offer even more options for day trips.
