Frome
Frome is one of North Somerset’s up and coming places. It’s a little market town with a great attitude and has always been creative and unique. Frome was named as one of the best places to live in the South West in 2020 and you’ll quickly find out why when you move to a new home here. It’s famous for the monthly Frome Independent, an award-winning street market that fills the town centre - that’s one great reason. It’s only 11 miles from Bath - that’s another good reason. There are historic cobbled streets with loads of fabulous independent shops, galleries and cafés. It ticks all the boxes.
Two of North Somerset's main road routes connect the town with Bruton, Warminster and Bath, as well as with the A303 to the south. You can cut across to Radstock to join the A37 Bristol road too. This is a good location to feel happily off the beaten track yet well connected.

You can’t help but soak up the atmosphere and character of Frome if you live here. St Catherine’s Street, Cheap Street and Palmer Street are a treat even if you are just window-shopping. Of course, Frome has supermarkets too, and as it’s a small town, everything is within easy reach. There’s a family feel to Frome, and certainly something of interest for all ages.
Getting around
Frome is not far from the Wiltshire border, it’s a short drive south of Bath, close to the A37 which links Dorchester with Bristol and within easy reach of the A303 via Bruton. All in all, it’s very well connected for an unspoilt rural part of the county. Frome’s train station is on the Bristol Temple Meads to Weymouth line and there’s also an early morning weekday service to London Paddington. Bristol Airport, approximately 30 miles away, is where you’d head for international flights.
Going to School
Families with children can choose from primary, middle and secondary school education in the town. North Somerset is also home to some highly regarded independent schools. For further education and vocational courses, Bath College at Radstock is just 8 miles away.
Enjoying yourself
Frome packs so many events into the town calendar, that you may not need to set off further afield. However, everyone enjoys a change of scenery and you’ll be well placed for the Mendips and Cranbourne Chase – both Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty. There’s a cycleway from Frome all the way into Bath, Sustrans Route 24, but if that’s too energetic you can make the most of the Park & Ride at Odd Down on the Frome side of the city
