Westbury
Westbury is a small rural town on the edge of the great expanse of the Salisbury Plain in Wiltshire. It’s close to Trowbridge and Warminster.
Though Westbury is only small, it has the great advantage of a having a station on the Great Western Railway line between London Paddington and Penzance. This makes the town and the area around it a very popular place to live for city commuters who want to enjoy a quieter country lifestyle.
Westbury has a good range of local shops, amenities and businesses, including a choice of schools, supermarkets, and sports and leisure venues. The famous White Horse at Bratton looks down from the hills above the town and is a well-known landmark in the area and a fantastic vantage point on the edge of the Plain.

As well as the train station, Westbury is served by the busy A350 which crosses with the A36 in the town. These main cross-country routes connect with Salisbury, Bath, Chippenham, Trowbridge and Shaftesbury. The border with Somerset is close by, putting Frome and Shepton Mallet within easy reach too. The A303 is due south of Westbury. The average journey time by train to London Paddington is an hour and 26 minutes, with plenty of services operating throughout the day.

Westbury has one secondary school, two primary schools, a junior school and an infant school – giving children of all ages the opportunity go to school locally. The secondary school, Matravers School, also offers a sixth form. Students can attend Trowbridge College just under 5 miles away for further and higher education courses, it’s one of Wiltshire College’s campuses.
Out and about
The historic Roman city of Bath is only 18 miles away and it’s the focal point for a day of shopping, history and culture in beautiful surroundings. Frome, just over the border in Somerset, has a famous market on the first Sunday of the month from March to December – the Frome Independent - that fills its streets and brings in visitors from as far as London.
