New Waltham

New Waltham has two of North East Lincolnshire’s big landmarks on its horizon. It’s halfway between the busy port of Grimsby on the Humber Estuary and the Lincolnshire Wolds Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Two different worlds within easy reach of one location, so it’s a good setting for your new home.

Neighbours Grimsby and Cleethorpes have two sides too, sharing the coast between business and beaches. New Waltham takes a step back from the UK’s busiest working port but it’s just 5 miles away, so it’s a very useful starting point for a commute to work.

Living in New Waltham

Living here

You’ve got a choice of convenience stores and small supermarkets on hand, with a Co-op, SPAR and Londis. Robinson’s Farm Shop is on the way to Waltham for fresh seasonal produce and other treats. There’s a Tesco Extra just on the outskirts of Cleethorpes and then of course all the shopping options in the town and in Grimsby too.

Getting around

The A16 passes through the town, it’s the link between Peterborough and Grimsby. The A18 runs along the edge of the Lincolnshire Wolds, joining the A46 between Grimsby and Caistor before it heads south to Lincoln. It takes about an hour to drive to Hull, crossing the Humber at Barton-upon-Humber.

Public transport to Grimsby and Cleethorpes is provided by Stagecoach bus services and from Grimsby you can connect with East Coast mainline train services. Humberside Airport is 15 miles away, an easy drive of about 25 minutes.

Going to school

New Waltham has got two primary schools; Enfield Primary School and New Waltham Academy.  Tollbar Academy is the local secondary school, which is between New Waltham and Waltham. The two towns are close neighbours, less than 2 miles apart, so the school is not far.

Coast and Countryside

The coast at Cleethorpes, 10 minutes away, will not only give you the beach and the sea, but also the Lincs Inspire Leisure Centre, The Cleethorpes Country Park, the 9-screen Parkway Cinema and the Cleethorpes Golf Club. For a bit of a treat, the Bannatyne Health Club & Spa is just up the road.

Heading into the Lincolnshire Wolds is a very different experience, with picturesque villages, country pubs and gentle hills – great for walking and cycling.
