Living here

With the city of Lincoln so close-by, it’s a bonus that the village has its own excellent local facilities. There are shops for day-to-day essentials, a range of takeaways, a post office and library, a medical centre and pharmacy, and the choice of two primary schools.

Three pubs, including a gastro pub, make it a sociable village to live in, and the mix of old and new housing is a successful balance.

Getting around

This is Roman road country and there are some great routes in this spacious rural county. The village is between the A15 and the A46, direct routes into Lincoln just 3 miles north. The A607 runs through the village, also taking you into Lincoln. The area is criss-crossed with country roads linking the villages and hamlets.

Hykeham, Lincoln and Metheringham are the closest train stations, with East Midlands Railway operating services from Lincoln to London St Pancras as well as other destinations in the East of England. Stagecoach East Midlands buses take you to Lincoln Central Bus Station, taking around 40 minutes.

Going to school

All Saints’ and Redwood are the two primary schools. Secondary age children would attend school in Lincoln or North Hykeham.

Enjoying yourself

One NK is a lovely leisure facility at North Hykeham, 4 miles away. There’s a swimming pool with a flume, kids splash zone, 3G pitches, a sports hall and a café.

Lincoln is on your doorstep for arts and culture with the New Theatre Royal, The Blue Room, Lincoln Performing Arts Centre and the Everyman Cinema, in what’s called Lincoln’s Culture Quarter. Not forgetting the cathedral – a real focal point for the city.
