Cottenham

Cottenham is one of the popular villages that surround Cambridge. It's always been very popular with commuters and families. Cambridge is on the doorstep for all the amazing variety that it offers, and Cottenham is a peaceful little step back from all that excitement.

With its own local facilities, including schools and healthcare, you can save a trip into Cambridge - less than 8 miles away - for a shopping trip, entertainment, culture and leisure. If you head away from Cambridge, you'll be able to enjoy the Cambridgeshire countryside and the highlight of historic Ely Cathedral.

As a very popular large village, Cottenham has all the local amenities that you'd expect. From a primary school to a well-respected secondary school, from a GP surgery to a dental practice, from a convenience store to a community cafe, and from a butcher to a baker. 

Commuting and public transport.

You can head due south of the village to Cambridge via Histon and Impington, crossing the A14 as you head into the city. The A10 is a short drive to the east, taking you right up to Kings Lynn via Ely. Cambridge is where you'd pick up mainline train services - the average journey time to London is 1 hour 20 minutes. There's an hourly bus services to Cambridge to if you need anything else, you don't have to get the car out.

Living near a famous city

Where to start? You can choose from the fabulous market in the very centre, a stroll down King's Parade, a picnic on Midsummer Common or Parker's Piece or a visit to the Fitzwilliam Museum.  It's as much fun watching the punts go by from one of the riverside pubs as it is to be on one! Though you will have to share the city with students and visitors, there's a great atmosphere to be a part of.
