Travel and transport
The A53, A515 and A6020 are the main routes that serve the town, connecting it with the key towns around the edge of the Peak District, including Manchester to the north and Macclesfield to the west. Buxton is equidistant between the M1 and the M6. Buxton's railway station runs services to Stockport and Manchester on the Northern Line. It takes under an hour to get to Manchester Piccadilly and from there there are direct services to London.
