The M65 is a convenient commuter route through this part of Lancashire. It joins the M6 below Preston approximately 20 miles away. The A682 is an alternative route into Nelson, 2.5 miles away, and to Burnley, 6 miles away. To the north, it heads up to Gisburn where it joins the A59 Preston to York road. The A56 is the town’s link with Skipton, in North Yorkshire. Colne’s train station is the terminus of the East Lancashire railway line, with services to Blackpool, Preston, Blackburn, and Burnley. Leeds Bradford Airport is an hour’s drive away, via the A6068.

Colne has a good choice of local shops, both independent and mainstream. There are convenience stores and supermarkets in Colne and in neighbouring Nelson. Between the two of them, all the national brands are represented. Local landmarks include Boulsworth Hill, Noyna Hill, and the famous (or infamous) Pendle Hill. Bronte Country, and the world-famous village of Haworth, are just 11 miles away. A little further afield, beyond Skipton, is the stunning landscape of the Yorkshire Dales National Park.
