Hesketh Bank
Hesketh Bank is in agricultural and market gardening territory, so it’s surrounded by the fields and farms of Lancashire’s important growing area. Its two big neighbours, Preston and Southport, are quite a contrast, putting this village community within easy reach of all the amenities for family life and making this a great choice for commuters too. The River Ribble and its estuary have defined the open landscape here and are the setting for your new home.

Going to town
The A59 and A565 are the main routes across this part of Lancashire, and you can pick them both up at Tarleton just 2 miles to the south of the village. The A59 will take you north to Preston, 12 miles away, or south to the market town of Ormskirk, 11 miles away. The A565 takes you into Southport which is 9 miles to the southwest. The straight roads and level landscape make for direct and easy routes. For travel further afield, the M6 is the North West’s key route, linking Birmingham and Carlisle. Croston is the nearest train station, on the Ormskirk branch line which then links to mainline services from Preston or Liverpool. Liverpool’s John Lennon Airport is just over 30 miles to the south, taking about an hour by car.
Going to school
Hesketh Bank has its own primary school, All Saints, a great start for your children in a welcoming community. Tarleton Academy takes children from 11 – 16 years as does Meols Cop on the outskirts of Southport. Southport College of Further Education and Runshaw College in Chorley, welcome students from 16+, and the local sixth form colleges are King George V in Southport and Cardinal Newman College in Preston.
Local amenities
The local supermarket chain, Booths, has a store in Hesketh Bank and there’s a One Stop convenience store, a pharmacy, newsagents and a deli. There’s a Co-op and Spar a couple of miles away at Tarleton. The small town of Leyland has a Tesco Express, Tesco Extra, Aldi and a Morrisons. For high street brands, Southport and Preston have a good range, but for a fabulous day of retail therapy, Liverpool One is the place to go. Southport will keep the family entertained, at the Ocean Plaza and Pleasureland, on the beach and on Marine Lake. For a quiet life, the countryside here is ideal for cycling, and you can walk for miles on the beaches and in the pinewoods of Formby and Freshfield.
