You’ll quickly feel at home in this attractive family-friendly town. The Windrush Leisure Centre, Witney Mills Cricket Club and an outdoor floodlit sports pitch, are some of the options to keep you fit. Add a great mix of shops in the town centre, including some of the big name brands, and there’s everything you need at hand. There are two shopping centres, Marriotts Walk and Woolgate, as well as the shops in the High Street and Corn Street. A highlight in the town is the Witney Farmers’ Market which is held on the third Wednesday of the month. Church Green is a lovely open space at the heart of the town where you can take time out to meet friends.
Getting around
The A40 is just to the south of the town. This is an excellent route which joins the M40 just outside Oxford, for a fast route to London. It also connects with the A34, the main route to Southampton. The nearest train station is at Long Hanborough, 5 miles north east of the town. From there you can get the London Paddington train, which takes just over an hour. Heathrow Airport is about 55 miles away, taking approximately one hour by car.
Near to Oxford
Witney is just 12 miles west of Oxford, you can be in the city centre in half an hour. It takes a little longer by bus but that’s a good option for a day trip. Trains from Long Hanborough take an easy 12 minutes. Whether you are going into the city for work or leisure, Witney is an excellent base for your home.
Close to the Cotswolds
Heading in the other direction, you can be in Burford, one of the most beautiful little towns in the Cotswolds, in 15 minutes. From there you have miles of unspoilt countryside, lovely villages and historic towns to choose from.
