Surrounded by beautiful countryside, full of historic architecture and known for its world-famous shopping, it’s easy to see why Bicester is one of the UK’s fastest-growing towns.
There’s charm in abundance here –it was named as Britain’s first ‘garden town’ – but there are also plenty of practical features which make Bicester a fantastic place to live. Convenient commuter links, great local amenities and major investment into modern facilities mean this ancient town is perfect for the 21st-century buyer.
New Homes in Bicester
Living in Bicester
Bicester is well-known for its designer outlet shopping centre, Bicester Village, where you can find huge reductions on high street and luxury brand. For day-to-day shopping, however, the town also excels, thanks to a recent £70 million redevelopment scheme to expand the town centre attractions, including a new Sainsbury’s superstore, a multi-screen cinema and a plethora of new bars and restaurants. You can shop local at the weekly market, farmers’ market and bi-annual French market.
Excellent transport links
One of the reasons Bicester is such a popular place to buy a new home is its enviable location for commuters. The town lies close to the A41 which provides excellent links to Aylesbury and Oxford. A short distance away, the M40 allows for easy access to London and Birmingham, with both journeys taking roughly an hour. The town has two train stations with Bicester North running to Birmingham and London Marylebone and Bicester Village station running to the West Country, London Marylebone (45 minutes) and Oxford. For travel further afield, London Luton, Heathrow and Birmingham Airport are all about an hour’s drive.
A great choice for families
For families with children, Bicester offers a wide range of quality schooling. Home already to two secondary schools and nine primary schools, the new primary and secondary school on the new Kingsmere development will offer even more convenient choices. There’s also an abundance of nature reserves, green spaces and children’s parks in the locality so you can make the most of the outdoors.
Lots to do on your doorstep
Close to the picturesque scenery of North Oxfordshire, the countryside surrounding Bicester is perfect for walking, cycling or exploring by car. Its central location also means Banbury, Oxford, the Cotswolds, Stratford-Upon-Avon, Milton Keynes, Warwick and Leamington Spa are all within an hour's drive.
Closer to home, Bicester’s Bure Park Nature Reserve with its trails and wildlife spotting and Garth Park - home to award-winning gardens, a traditional bandstand and children’s play area – provide open space and fun for all the family. Bicester Leisure Centre also offers a wide range of facilities including a fitness suite, swimming pools, squash courts, activity halls and a crèche. And the keen golfers amongst you will be spoilt for choice as there are seven golf clubs in the area.
