Birmingham is 20 miles to the south of Cannock, and Stafford is 10 miles to the north. The M6 passes to the west, the M6 Toll to the south, and the M54 to the southwest. The area’s A roads intersect with the motorways just as efficiently, with the A34 passing right through Cannock and linking Walsall and Stafford. The A5 is just to the south of the town, joining the M1 near Rugby. The A460 heads into the countryside of Cannock Chase. Train services from Cannock railway station are on the Rugeley, Cannock, Walsall, Birmingham line. It takes around 40 minutes to travel by train into Birmingham, and just over an hour to get into Stafford. Birmingham International Airport is about an hour’s drive away, or an hour and half by train.
Cannock offers a range of popular high street shops, independents, and a great outdoor market. There’s a shopping centre in Market Place, and the Designer Outlet West Midlands is just off the A460. There are plenty of other local shops and convenience stores, and for supermarkets, there's the full range of national brands. The Cannock Chase Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty is a superb local asset, for its protected countryside and for a range of outdoor activities.
There are two secondary schools for the Cannock catchment area. Cannock Chase High School and Cardinal Griffin Catholic College, both covering 11 – 18 years. Cannock College and the Cannock Skills and Innovation Hub offer a wide range of further education courses, training, apprenticeships, and evening classes.
