Lincolnshire is very much a rural county, so it’s reassuring to know that it’s well-connected by road and rail. LNER and Northern train services from Lincoln Central get you to Nottingham in an hour, Sheffield in an hour and a half, and London Kings Cross in two hours. You can join the A1 at Newark on Trent or Markham Moor, and the M1 at Nottingham, while the A46 takes you straight down to Leicester. North of Lincoln, you can join the M180 and the M62 for Hull and Leeds.
Lincoln has so much to offer. As well as having a great history – walking up Steep Hill in the historic centre is a must – you’ve got the Yarborough Leisure Centre and Whitton Park, close to the city centre. A bit further afield, Just Wake at the Tattershall Water Park, is bound to be a favourite for a day out. For countryside and coast, you’ll be within easy reach of the Lincolnshire Wolds Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and the seaside resort of Skegness.
Healthcare, education and day-to-day facilities are all on hand. Lincoln County Hospital, a GP surgery and two dental practices are all within two miles. In addition to the local nursery and primary school, the Priory Academy and Lincoln Christs Hospital School provide secondary education in the city. Lincoln is even host to two universities – Lincoln University and Bishop Grosseteste University – adding a vibrant student population to this buzzing city.
