Braintree is in a convenient location for national and international travel. It’s approximately halfway between Colchester, Chelmsford and Bishop’s Stortford, with convenient commuting routes on the A120, which connects with the M11, and the A12. London Stansted Airport is just 18 miles away, an easy 24-minute journey. The train journey from Braintree to London Liverpool Street takes just over an hour, making this a very popular home town for commuters.

Local information

As well as the town centre facilities, Braintree Village is a shopping area with around 90 retail outlets. With its own station, and a Cineworld, it’s a convenient self-contained venue. The town itself has a mainly pedestrianised high street, two markets that operate twice a week, and two Tesco Superstores. For the cultural side of life, there is a theatre, museum and arts centre. Green space just out of town includes the Great Notley Country Park.
