Dereham
Dereham is a lovely market town at the very heart of the rural county of Norfolk. It’s a large enough town to have an excellent range of amenities but small enough to have a welcoming community feel.
This pretty town has a wide high street with lots of history and character, which is brought to life by the popular weekly markets that are held on Tuesdays and Fridays. It’s the perfect focal point and meeting place where you can enjoy the cafés and local shops that line the street. Dereham is also a very convenient commuter base for Norwich which is on a direct route just 24 miles away. There you have the historic cathedral quarter, a thriving university, fabulous shopping and lovely places to eat out. Market town, cathedral city, lovely countryside - this is a perfectly balanced place to choose for a new home.

A lovely area
Norfolk is a beautiful county that is still predominantly rural. Its landscape includes the famous Norfolk Broads which are between Norwich and the coast, and the Norfolk Coast Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty which spreads out to either side of Wells-next-the-Sea. The historic villages that are dotted throughout the countryside are home to a thriving arts and crafts culture – you are bound to come back from a day trip with something for your new home.
On the go
As well as the network of rural roads that you will soon get to know, Dereham is served by the A47. This is the main route from Great Yarmouth to Peterborough via Norwich and Dereham. It bypasses the town to the south and links with the A10 at King’s Lynn. Though Dereham doesn’t have a train service anymore, regular bus routes are operated into Norwich as an alternative to driving.
For families
Dereham has a good choice of schools for your children with provision for nursery and pre-school, infants and junior, secondary and sixth form pupils. There’s a fantastic library, a three-screen cinema and a leisure centre with a swimming pool. The Dereham Recreation Ground offers open-air tennis courts, play equipment, a skate park and a 10-pin bowling alley.
