Gosforth rubs shoulders with Newcastle-upon-Tyne and it’s one of the city’s popular residential and business areas. The Metro gets you into Newcastle in no time, you’ll be on the right side of town for the International Airport and you’ll have 1000 acres of green space on the doorstep, with a park that’s bigger than New York’s Central Park, Hyde Park and Hampstead Heath put together. These are great credentials when you’re choosing a new home in the North East.

Living in Gosforth

Important links

This leafy suburb of Newcastle-upon-Tyne is to the north of the city centre, with the great A1, the inner-city A167 and the A1058 coast road, on its three sides. There are three Tyne & Wear Metro stations: South Gosford, Regent Centre and Wansbeck Road. A fast train will get you into the city centre in under 15 minutes. The Regent Centre is the public transport interchange for bus services too. For holidays and business trips, Newcastle International Airport is just 6 miles away, a very convenient 30-minute journey by train.

Local amenities

Newcastle may have the lion’s share of shopping, leisure and entertainment, but Gosforth has plenty of facilities of its own. Gateshead’s Intu Metrocentre is a vast shopping and leisure centre just 7 miles away. There are primary schools, first schools, middle schools and the Gosforth Academy is the local secondary school which integrates a large sixth form college. Gosforth’s Leisure Centre includes a swimming pool. For outdoor sport, the Gosforth Golf Club and the City of Newcastle Golf Club are both on the edge of town. The Town Moor is the greatest green space amenity - 1000 acres - where Europe’s largest travelling fair is held each year. A little further out there’s even more green space with High Gosforth Park and the Gosforth Nature Reserve.
