Whitburn

Whitburn is a small-sized town with a great village feel. It’s on the east coast just below South Shields and close to Newcastle-upon-Tyne. The town has all the ingredients that make it a very popular place to live - a main shopping street, parish church, cricket ground and park, a great beach – and even a windmill looking out to sea. Getting there

Whitburn is on the coastal road between Sunderland and South Shields. The nearest Tyne and Wear Metro stations are at East Bolden and Seaburn - Seaburn being the nearest at just 1.5 miles away. Bus services for the town are operated by Go North East and Stagecoach North East.

Going to school

For families with school-age children there are three schools in Whitburn: Whitburn Village Primary School, Marsden Primary School and Whitburn Church of England Academy.  The schools' latest Ofsted inspections record all three as being "Good".

In the area

The area between Trow Point and Whitburn is an International and European wildlife site. Along with the Whitburn Coastal Park. It's cared for by the National Trust and is a designated nature reserve and a lovely place to explore and enjoy. Seaburn Beach and Marsden Beach are ideal places for a family day out without having to travel too far.
