Newington
Newington is a village in a great spot between Rainham and Sittingbourne. It’s an attractive village, and with its own train station and a direct link to London Victoria, it’s very attractive to London commuters too. After a busy day in the city, it’s lovely to come back to your new home in a small and friendly community. When work is off the agenda, you’ve got the Isle of Sheppey and the Kent Downs Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty on either side of the village, the cathedral city of Canterbury 24 miles away, and the coastal towns and beaches of the South East, between Whitstable to Dover, to enjoy.

Living here
The village is on the A2 and it’s halfway between Rainham and Sittingbourne, so if you need more than the excellent, late-opening local Co-op, you can pop to either of these towns for your main shopping, for the national supermarket brands and for other amenities such as sport and leisure. The train station is an asset to the village whether you need to use it for work or for a day out in Canterbury or on the coast.
Getting out and about
This part of Kent benefits from the key routes of the M2 and the M20, linking the coast at Dover and Folkestone with the M25. The connection from Newington is the A249 which also takes you right out onto the tip of the Isle of Sheppey. You can drive to Maidstone in about half an hour, it’s about 12 miles away. The train station is on the Chatham mainline and there’s a train every hour to London Victoria via Chatham and Bromley South. The average journey time to London Victoria is just under an hour and a quarter. You can also catch the train to Canterbury, taking about half an hour, and to Dover, taking just over an hour. It’ll take you about an hour to drive to London City Airport via the M2 and A2.
Going to school
Newington C of E Primary School is where young families and their children get to know each other. It’s in a federation with Lower Halstow School, just a couple of miles to the north of the village, so there’s a thriving wider school community for your children. Westlands School in Sittingbourne and Leigh Academy in Rainham are in the catchment area schools for older pupils.
