Stourbridge is in the lucky position of being close to all the opportunities of the UK’s second largest city, Birmingham, at the same time as being right on the edge of the lovely countryside of Worcestershire. As well as all your local shops, Stourbridge has got three main shopping centres: the Ryemarket Shopping Centre, the Crown Shopping Centre and the Skyline Shopping Centre. This is a town where regeneration has really concentrated on local amenities and infrastructure, it’s easy to get around the town and it’s easy to park in the centre.
Getting around
Birmingham and the Midlands are at the centre of the UK transport network and Stourbridge is the meeting point for some of the area’s main A roads. The A491, 458 and A451 all head into the town and join the town centre ring road. Train services are on hand too, with services into Birmingham city centre taking half an hour and to London taking two and a half hours. Birmingham Airport is 30 miles away via the M42 to the south of the city, or you can make the most of the free Air-Rail Link from Birmingham International Train Station. The Stourbridge Interchange is the main bus station, with services to Birmingham, Dudley and Wolverhampton.

The four-day annual Stourbridge Beer Festival is definitely something for the diary. One of the main parks is the Mary Stevens Park which hosts outdoor live music events during the summer. For a rainy day or a fitness regime, the Crystal Leisure Centre has something to keep all the family happy. Hop on a train and enjoy the arts, culture and of course the retail therapy of Birmingham.
Escape to the country
Worcestershire and its neighbour Shropshire are a breath of fresh air. It’s great to have all the amenities of a big city on your doorstep, but sometimes it’s good to get away from it all and it couldn’t be easier. A day out in Ludlow is like stepping into a different world. Its historic streets are a treasure trove of independent shops, galleries and cafés. Much Wenlock, on the way to Shrewsbury, is a delight of crooked medieval houses. A little further afield you can stretch your legs in the unspoilt landscape of the Shropshire or Malvern Hills.
