West Bromwich

West Bromwich is a large market town, just five miles from Birmingham, so all that city life offers is on the doorstep. Birmingham and the towns around it are central England’s key industrial and commercial areas so there are excellent transport links close to your new home, balanced with plenty of open green spaces. With Bromwich Albion to cheer for, Birmingham city centre shopping to treat yourself to and the Sandwell Valley Country Park to relax in.

Living in West Bromwich

Living here

New Square is the focal point of the town, just off the A41. There’s a glass covered complex there with a supermarket, high street brands, places to eat and a 5-screen cinema. There are plenty of green spaces around the town for children to let off steam, and as well as the huge Country Park you’ve got Greets Green Park, the Sheepwash Nature Reserve and the Tividale Park.

Getting around

The M5 runs along the east side of West Bromwich, before joining the M6 just to the north of the town. It’s the main road link for the North West and the South West so couldn’t be more convenient. For trains you are on the West Midlands Railway line, with frequent services into Birmingham taking just 10 to 15 minutes. The average train time to London is under 2 hours. Birmingham Airport is on the far side of Birmingham but it’s only about 20 miles via the M6.

The big city

Birmingham is famous for its Bullring Shopping Centre, world-food, nightlife and culture. For something a bit different it’s got a historic network of inner-city canals spreading out from Sherborne Wharf - a great place to go for bars and cafés. You can even take boat trips from there to get a different view of the city. So, jump on a train or take one of the frequent buses that run through West Bromwich and treat yourself to a day out.

Enjoying yourself

There is absolutely something for everyone here: A state of the art Odeon cinema in New Square, the West Bromwich Leisure Centre – which has a fabulous pool – in Moor Street, the Hilltop Golf Course in the Sandwell Valley Country Park - and the park itself for wonderful open space, cycle hire, children’s play areas and funfair, and playing fields. If you want a city break, you can head for the Shropshire Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty about an hour’s drive away.
