Wolverhampton

Wolverhampton is pretty much at the heart of England and a new home here opens up plenty of options for you and your family. It’s very much a part of the busy urban area around Birmingham, at the same time as having its own identity as an important industrial base in its own right. Wolverhampton is down to earth and hard-working, and with its strong community spirit and the contrast of the Shropshire countryside just a stone’s throw away, it’s not hard to find a good work life balance here.

Living in Wolverhampton

Living here

Wolverhampton isn’t short of shops, with The Market Centre, the Mander Shopping Centre and the Wulfrun Shopping Centre. Bentley Bridge and Summer Row are combined retail and leisure complexes. Westside is a brand-new shopping, restaurant, cinema and leisure venue and is an exciting boost for the city. It’s not all about a built-up environment though and Wolverhampton has some great parks and green spaces.

Getting around

This central location gives you easy access to the national transport network. The M6 is the driving force for the Midlands and the North West. It runs along the west of the city, connecting with the M5 to the south and the M6 Toll to the north.  Wolverhampton station is on the West Coast mainline with services from Avanti West Coast, CrossCountry, Transport for Wales and West Midlands Trains. You can be at Birmingham New Street in just 20 minutes and in London in under 2 hours. For that all important escape to the sun, Birmingham Airport is about an hour’s drive away.

Great for children

For family outings Hollywood Bowl is always popular and Go Kidz Go is great for younger children. Wolverhampton Swimming and Fitness Centre has the excitement of a water flume as well as being a place for serious swimmers. Phoenix Park offers woodland and meadows, East Park is good for recreational sports and Smestow Valley is a city nature reserve with biking trails to follow.

Great for grown-ups

For a shopping trip and lunch with friends, Birmingham city centre is the place to go for a day out. For a real change of scenery, the Shropshire countryside is just beautiful. Stop off in Much Wenlock for a step back in time, before heading into the Shropshire Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. You’ll feel worlds away.
