Castleford

Castleford has moved on from historic Roman times to making history with Rugby League - it’s home to super league Castleford Tigers. It’s on the M62 east-west super-route from Hull to Liverpool, with the M1 and A1(M) adding to its strong position for transport and communication. Castleford is one of an important family of West Yorkshire towns and cities, giving you easy links to Leeds, Bradford, Halifax, Huddersfield and Wakefield, and putting a new home at a strong advantage for travel around the area.

Living in Castleford

In the area

The Calder and Aire Rivers meander alongside the northern edge of Castleford. They are great for riverside walks and RSPB reserves. There are several country parks to choose from and the Yorkshire Sculpture Park is something a bit different - al fresco culture a short drive away.

All you need

Castleford has good shopping options, including the Carlton Lanes Shopping centre. Leeds is ever popular for a full-on day of retail therapy, followed by an evening out. Further away, but easy to reach, York adds historic character to its cobbled streets and independent shops.

A bit more about transport

As well as the motorway network there's very easy access to mainline train services. CrossCountry services from Castleford and Wakefield connect with Leeds and Sheffield amongst other destinations. The average journey time from Leeds to London is under two and a half hours.
