Artistic Sophia wins card decoration competition
09 March 2016
A nine-year-old girl from Gilwern has shown her creative side by winning a poster design competition.
Charles Church East Wales launched the art competition in conjunction with Gilwern Primary School.
Children at the school were challenged to design posters promoting the new houses at Charles Church’s The Alders development in Abergavenny Road.
All of the colourful designs were put in front of Charles Church’s management team.
After much deliberating, the team selected Sophia Clark’s design as the winner.
Sophia won art equipment for her efforts.
Sarah Foulkes, marketing co-ordinator at Charles Church East Wales, said: “We had some fantastic entries and it was really tough to pick a winner. We loved the detail that Sophia had put into her coloured pencil design. There are people talking to each other on the street, cars on the road and even a dog. It was nice that Sophia incorporated some Welsh as well.”
Joanne Broad, Acting Deputy Headteacher at Gilwern Primary School said: “The school thought it was such a lovely initiative to involve the children in welcoming the new residents to Gilwern.”
“We are thrilled that Sophia was such a worthy winner.”
Charles Church’s The Alders has a selection of modern three and four bedroom homes.
