Charles Church North Midlands supports the Olympic Dream
20 May 2011
Triathlete Lucy Smith from Nottingham is still holding onto her dream of competing in the 2012 Olympic Games in London and thanks to the sponsorship of Charles Church North Midlands, has added financial support to help her fulfil her goal.
“I am extremely thankful of the sponsorship provided by Charles Church North Midlands as it has helped me to fund travel and accommodation for many events over the winter and those planned for the summer season,” explains Lucy.
She continues: “With the financial burden taken off I can concentrate on competing and my university studies at Loughborough University which hopefully will give me the best chance to succeed and achieve my dream.”
Lucy, who recently popped in to Charles Church’s Manderlay development in Mapperley, has just completed the National Senior Elite Duathlon attaining an impressive seventh place taking five minutes off her personal best time of last year when she won the British Junior title. Showing particular improvement in running and cycling, Lucy has a busy schedule ahead and is keeping the pressure on.
She adds: “The season is beginning to take shape and I am presently working out my numerous entries, travel and accommodation arrangements. With a successful winter season setting the foundations, which also included a 10 day training camp at Las Playitas in Fuerteventura, I am fully fit and looking forward to achieving great things this summer.”
Mariana Knight, sales and marketing director for Charles Church North Midlands, comments: “We pride ourselves on supporting the communities in which we build and naturally the people that live within those communities too. Lucy is testimony to the fact that hard work and commitment pays off and we wish her well in her bid to be part of the Olympic squad for 2012.”
