Cooking up a storm in Leicester kitchens
23 November 2010
Members of the sales team from Charles Church North Midlands were spotted donning aprons and chef’s hats this month when they downed their usual tools for the day to prepare a series of tasty treats for visitors to the showhome.
Hosted at the homebuilders Rothley-based development, Avalon, the event starred Maureen Dickens, field sales manager for Charles Church North Midlands, as head chef with sales and marketing co-ordinator, Sophie Barker, and Part Exchange co-ordinator, Vikki Hurst as her apprentices.
The team whipped up a number of winter warmer dishes including casseroles, tagine dishes and a selection of puddings such as crumbles made from seasonal fruit.
Mariana Knight, sales and marketing director for Charles Church North Midlands, commented: “The event at Avalon went really well and the visitors on the day were certainly impressed with the smells coming from the kitchen. The aim of the cooking event was to demonstrate just what the kitchen can do and the proof was in the pudding as all the food tasted fantastic.”
All the dishes that were cooked on the day used ingredients that have been home grown.
Maureen adds; “Growing your own fruit and vegetables is a topic we are very passionate about and we hope to demonstrate to people that it’s not necessarily as time and energy consuming as you may think and, what’s more, they make for some delicious meals!”
Charles Church also gave away free gardening/cookery books from the Royal Horticultural Society on the day with chapters on how to grow your own vegetables and recipes for healthy meals and snacks.
