Creating a cosy and comforting home this autumn
12 November 2020
The autumn months are here and now is the perfect time to add subtle changes to your interiors to help make your home feel cosy and comforting for those darker nights. We take a look at the Marlborough showhome at our exciting new development, Wellington Gate, in Grove, Oxfordshire.
Bringing neutrals to life with gold accents and texture
Neutral colours provide the perfect base for any room. Their reflective nature makes them ideal for the Marlborough front-aspect living room.
Our designers have added warmth by layering different shades, with a textured wallpaper in a truffle tone, complimentary rug and selection of cushions.
This room oozes luxury with the addition of gold accents through key pieces of furniture and wall art, paired with welcoming atmospheric lighting to create a cosy and inviting living space.
Creating the perfect cosy corner
If a separate dining room is not something you desire, the Marlborough offers the flexibility to have a second snug living space. A more informal living area is an ideal opportunity to dress up a corner sofa. Perfect for reading a book or watching a film, snuggle up and introduce colour with a range of plumped cushions. Drape a plush blanket or throw to add a more relaxed feel. Hits of dark colour with the picture frame gallery and prints on one wall add a modern edge and another dynamic to a neutral colour.
Add a warm glow with statement lighting
An instant way to make your home feel cosier for the autumn/ winter months is to swap any cool bulbs you may have to warm. A subtle change, but one that makes all the difference. We have done just that in the kitchen/ dining space of our Marlborough showhome. In the day, this space is flooded with natural light, but come the evening the warming lighting softens the look of the room, making it feel homely and inviting. A simple way to reflect seasonal colours is to spruce up your dining table. Seasonal foliage, table runners, matts, napkins and tableware are all additions that can help make a statement.
Pauline Fletcher, sales and marketing director for Persimmon Homes Wessex, said: “We are creating a range of attractive homes to suit a variety of buyers.
“Buyers can ask about our Part Exchange and Home Change arrangements, designed to help make moving home easier. The Government’s Help to Buy scheme is also available.”
The four-bedroom Marlborough is a detached family home with a modern open plan kitchen/ breakfast/ family room with French doors leading to the garden, spacious living and separate dining room, perfect for entertaining. Also downstairs, you will find a handy utility room with outside access and a cloakroom. Upstairs, the large main bedroom has an en suite and provides the perfect space to relax and unwind. A further three bedrooms, with bedroom four an ideal study area, and a modern bathroom, makes this a great home for a growing family.
