Family happy to finally put down roots

A stunning new development from Charles Church has welcomed its first residents.
Jacques and Mareli De Bruin have finally swapped the sunshine and outdoor swimming pool of South Africa to buy their first British home at Marina Park in Northampton - and the family couldn’t be happier.
Mareli said: “We have been in the UK for eight years now, always in rented accommodation, and for the last four years have rented in St Crispins where our little girl is at school.
“We had been looking to buy in the area for some time and it was our dream to get something similar here – a big house, lots of outdoor space, a pool - but property in South Africa is so much cheaper.
“In the summer we went on holiday, got back and the show home here at Marina Park had been finished. So we popped in, had a look – and two days later bought our house!
“I never had this kind of house in mind but it has turned out to be the most amazing experience for us and we are absolutely thrilled with our new home.”
The De Bruin’s bought a Longleet Special style house, a four bedroom detached property with open plan kitchen, dining area, a spacious lounge and a study with four generous sized bedrooms upstairs, two of which offer en suites.
Mareli added: “It’s been quite a journey for us. When we first came to the UK, it happened really quickly and I left all of my lovely furniture in storage. Now at last I have been able to reclaim it all, and settle down once and for all. It really does feel like home now.”
And the De Bruin’s South African tradition of barbecues all year round has now winged its way to Northampton, with weekly outdoor events for their new neighbours who are firm friends.
Marina Park is on the site of the former Princess Marina Hospital, between Upton and St Crispins, and is close to lovely open countryside as well as Northampton’s shopping, sports, entertainment, leisure and excellent transport links. The nearby village of Duston includes three primary schools, a secondary school, several independent shops and small supermarkets, a chemist, a medical centre, a dentist, a post office, a library, hair salons, public houses and three churches.
Claire said: “Help to Buy has been hugely popular as it enables people to secure their dream home with just a five per cent deposit. To find out more, visit Marina Park or any Charles Church development and our experienced sales executives will provide advice on all the assistance schemes available to buyers.”
