House builder springs into action for Portlethen school

30 April 2012

A primary school in Portlethen has received a financial boost from a luxury house builder.

Charles Church has confirmed its commitment to Portlethen Primary School by donating £150 towards the running costs of the school’s annual fundraising event.

The Portlethen Primary School Spring Fayre takes place on Saturday 12th May and is held in the school grounds on Cookston Road.

The family event is aimed at generating additional funds to support the school’s enhanced learning activities for pupils, including the purchase of new technology and equipment and helping fund day excursions and other events.

Lorraine Clelland, Charles Church Scotland’s sales director, is delighted to support the annual event.

She said; “This is the first time we have sold homes in the area and believe it’s essential to work with the local community where we can.”

“Charles Church’s Findon Park development is about a mile from the school so we expect many of our new customers will benefit from the school’s facilities so we are very pleased to support the action-packed event.”

Visitors to the Spring Fayre will enjoy performances by Newtonhill Pipe Band, who will open the event, and can try their luck at stalls such as the chocolate tombola, bottle stall and lucky dip. Demonstrations by skip-hop and cheerleading dance groups will provide additional entertainment, as well as a host of gift stalls supported by local businesses.

George Brawley, joint chairperson of Portlethen Primary School Parent Staff Association, said: “We are very grateful to Charles Church; it’s support from local companies like this that help to ensure the smooth and profitable running of our annual Fayre. This in turn helps provide funding to the school’s teaching and support staff in enhancing the learning experiences of our deserving children.”

“We aim to raise around £10,000 a year through fundraising events and activities and the annual Spring Fayre is our main event.”

Charles Church has reputation for building homes of quality and character homes and Findon Park is no exception. The luxury development provides a mix of three, four and five bedroom detached houses consisting of nine different styles. The Schoolhill Road development offers a stunning show home and incentives.
