Persimmon Homes, the Official Housebuilder of Team GB, has donated £1,000 to the Wingate Special Children’s Trust, a Nantwich based charity providing inclusive sport and recreation facilities for children with special educational needs and disabilities.

The latest episode of Persimmon and Team GB’s content series My Olympic Roots followed trampolinist and double Olympic medallist Bryony Page, who began her sporting career by training at the Wingate Centre and now acts as vice president of the Wingate Special Children’s Trust.

The series aims to celebrate the importance of home and understand the strong connection between the places where we put down roots, and the things we can go on to achieve.

Bryony Page shares her memories of the place where it all started: “The Wingate Centre is where it all began for me - I remember watching the trampolinists there as a kid and thinking how much fun it looked. There’s an amazing sense of community.

The support they gave me when I was growing up and the passion they emanate for gymnastics, igniting my love for the sport, played a massive part in getting me where I am today. It’s always so special to be able to go back to visit, and it’s brilliant to see Persimmon recognising their amazing work with this donation.”

Christina Evatt, Group Head of Brand Marketing at Persimmon, was on hand recently to present the cheque to members of the Wingate Centre alongside Bryony.

She commented: “It was great to visit the team at the Wingate Centre recently to learn more about the wonderful work they do for young people in the local area.

“At Persimmon we are committed to giving back to local communities as we look to have a positive impact on the next generation.

“I wish all involved with the Wingate Centre the very best for the future.”

The Wingate Centre was thrilled to receive the generous donation from Persimmon by our their very own Bryony Page. They commented: “Bryony is an inspiration to us all here, staff and service users alike. Without her support and the support of the wider community we would not be able to continue the life enhancing work that we do each day with children and young adults with special education needs and disabilities.”
