Looking forward to welcoming friends into her Charles Church home

The beauty of buying a new build is that you start from the beginning with a blank canvas, says our newest Charles Church Instagram Ambassador.
It’s a little over a year since Julien Bollozos saw the ‘sold’ sign appear next to her property on the Westvale Park website. And despite a global pandemic, Julien was thrilled when her new home was completed on time.
She said: “Together with my parents and sister, we lived in a rented accommodation and were looking for somewhere to buy. I’d heard about Westvale Park, and then a friend of mine bought on the development.
“I particularly liked the Charles Church house types, and in January reserved my 4-bed Leicester. The house was ready right on time and I completed in July which was really unexpected considering Covid.”
Julien moved into the property with her family and immediately set about putting her stamp on it, learning new DIY skills as she has gone along. She set up her Instagram account to share the journey, and 30 posts in has amassed more than 2,500 followers.
“I wanted to share the journey I have had and document my decorating progress while being able to look back. My style is a cool grey theme but mixed with earth tones such as beige to bring in warmth and create an inviting and friendly vibe. I love plants so there is lots of green that really fill the space with personality.”
Her use of texture and art has influenced the look of her home: “Texture is essential for me to have things that provide visual interest and make a statement but restraint, of course, is also key. I really love the master bedroom where the table lamp and commissioned art above the bed make a real impact.”
The dining room was Julien’s first Insta reveal with its feature panelled wall and stunning furniture and this is where she hopes to welcome friends when lockdown restrictions are lifted. While this week, the home office has been unveiled, showing off Julien’s flourishing DIY skills!
“We had quotes from bespoke companies but wow, the prices were so high! DIY was the best option and I’m really pleased with how it turned out – all for around £250! The subtle black accent together with the soft pastel coloured decors really added interest to the white walls.”
Accountant Julien will be putting it to good use as she continues to work from home but is already turning to Pinterest and Instagram for garden ideas.
“I’m really enjoying styling my home and working on the projects myself, I find it very therapeutic and way to switch off from the day job. I can’t wait to tackle the garden and turn it into a space for us all to enjoy.”
